The UK’s biggest manufacturer of cutting tools has underlined its commitment to its home town of Sheffield with the purchase of a huge new warehouse in the city.

Technicut currently operates from two separate bases in the area, but will now be able to consolidate all its operations at the new site which also offers the potential for further growth.

The company which was founded in 1987, initially manufactured carbide tooling but has grown over the years and has become a major supplier of optimised steel, carbide and diamond tooling derivatives to the aerospace industry.

The new site covers 96,000 square feet, and offers the potential for further expansion with around an additional 20,000 square feet available to extend the building in the future.

Technicut’s Managing Director David Fothergill says another key factor in the move is the excellent transport links at the new site with the M1 motorway close by.

He says the site will also benefit the company’s workforce “The move allows us to streamline our current operations while also planning for further expansion, and using the extra space to develop a 7000 sq ft technology centre, with a purpose-built gym and canteen for our employees.
