The Morgan Motor Company is ramping up its recruitment programme, despite economic uncertainty and a challenging automotive industry landscape.

The Malvern-based firm, which this year celebrates its 110th year in business and now employs a record 233 staff, has created over 40 new roles this year and currently has 10 open job vacancies across various departments.

After starting 2019 with 204 employees, the company projects a workforce of 240 by the end of the year.

The news is delivered just six months after Morgan announced significant investment from Investindustrial, which is now the majority shareholder in the company. The increase in recruitment coincides with improvements to infrastructure at Morgan’s factory in Malvern Link, which has been home to the sports car manufacturer for the last 105 years. A seven-figure sum has been set aside for continued improvements to the historic factory site, while a new Technology Centre and Visitor Centre are currently in discussion.

The company currently employs 12 apprentices across a range of core craft areas as it looks to continue training and educating the next generation of craftsmen and women. Further links to education have also been strengthened leading to new employees starting from the University of Wolverhampton and Heart of Worcestershire College, following successful periods of work experience.

Steve Morris, CEO of Morgan Motor Company, said: ‘We are delighted to be recruiting an unprecedented number of new roles into the Morgan business despite challenging times within the wider economic landscape. The increase in employment levels is a boost for the local economy and reaffirms the company’s commitment to expanding in Malvern, our home for the last 110 years.

‘The news that our engineering and design departments are continuing to grow is significant, and we look forward to sharing some of their work during the next 12 months.’
