Four headline transformation topics will be debated on 12th and 13th July

World-renowned economist, Lord Jim O’Neill, is to deliver a keynote speech at Siemens’ two-day conference and exhibition, Transform 2022.

The former Goldman Sachs chief economist and Honorary Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester will take to the Transform Stage to provide insights into ‘Building Business Resilience’, the first of four transformation topics being discussed and debated at Manchester Central on July 12 and 13.

Lord O’Neill of Gatley will be followed by special guest speaker Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, before a panel discussion about the volatile challenges faced by both the public and private sectors, led by Justin Kelly, Director Siemens UK&I, and featuring: Carl Ennis, CEO, Siemens UK&I; Sarah Hadfield, Head of UK Cyber Risk and Regulation at National Grid; Ashling Cunningham, CIO at Irish Water; Matthew Fell, Chief UK Policy Director at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry); and Michael Wilton, Director & Leader of Manchester office, Arup.

Justin Kelly, Director Siemens UK&I, said: “I’m looking forward to #Transform2022, especially since it will be our first face-to-face event after returning to near normalcy.

It will be insightful to hear Lord O’Neill’s views on building business resilience given his “pragmatic, long-term” vision of currency markets. He is known to make improvements upon traditional models of data analysis by incorporating elements that ultimately make them more accurate. I am also delighted that the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, will be joining us on stage as a special guest on Tuesday July 12.”

‘Transforming Industry’, the second headline session on July 12, will begin with a keynote from Cedrik Neike, CEO of Siemens Digital Industries, before a discussion about how technology can enable British and Irish manufacturers to become more competitive, productive and sustainable, hosted by Brian Holliday, MD Siemens Digital Industries UK&I, and featuring: Darren Budd, Commercial Director at BASF; Alberto Prado, Head of R&D Digital & Partnerships at Unilever; Frank Ludwig, Chief Transformation Officer at Jaguar Land Rover; Stephen Phipson CBE, Chief Executive Office, Make UK; and Sarah Black-Smith, General Manager, Motion Control Business, Siemens UK&I.

On July 13 the spotlight will shift to the latest cutting-edge innovation and technologies that can transform an organisation in the ‘What’s Next in Tech?’ session, with practical insights from those who have implemented tech innovations and seen the amazing results. The keynote will be delivered by Peter Koerte, CTO at Siemens, before a panel discussion hosted by Joan Mulvihill, Digitalisation lead Siemens UK&I, and featuring: Daniel Watkins, Head of CAD/PLM, Oracle Red Bull Racing; David Threlfall, CIO, Britishvolt; Nick Bateman, CEO GrowPura; Rob Passmore, Commercial Lead, North Devon Biosphere.

The final of the four transformation sessions, ‘Transforming Infrastructure’, will explore how the UK and Ireland’s infrastructure can become greener, cleaner and more sustainable in the context of the need to decarbonise our cities, towns, and transport networks. The keynote by Paul Wilson, Chief Business Officer, Connected Places Catapult, will be followed by a panel discussion, hosted by Carl Ennis, CEO Siemens UK&I, and featuring: Professor Martin Freer, University of Birmingham; Liam O’Sullivan, License Director,  SP Energy Networks; Asif Ghafoor, CEO, Be.EV Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure & Co-Founder, Iduna; and Faye Bowser, Head of Energy Performance Services, Siemens UK&I.

As well as the Transform Stage, there will be:

  • The Challenge Zones – providing a space for in-depth discussion on trending technology topics in a roundtable-like format, led by Siemens’ experts.
  • The Theatres – a schedule of talks and a hub for organisations looking to discover the next tech trend, plan their path to net zero or hear the transformational stories of businesses that have embraced digitalisation.
  • CPD tutorials – a schedule of specialist 45-minute tutorials led by Siemens experts focused on working with cybersecurity, SMART building technologies or security hardening.

Transform 2022 will bring together hundreds of industry leaders, influencers and regulators from across the UK and Ireland to collaborate and solve some of the most pressing organisational challenges.
