West Yorkshire-based Advanced Diesel Engineering has secured funding from the Barclays Northern Powerhouse Fund to open a new manufacturing facility.
The company, established in 1998 and headquartered at Langthwaite Business Park, supplies diesel generators, power generation systems and bespoke acoustic enclosures for generators used across a range of sectors. It also designs and manufactures switchgear enclosures.
The new funding from Barclays has enabled the business to purchase a second manufacturing site at Hellaby Industrial Estate, Rotherham.
Advanced Diesel Engineering employs more than 120 staff in Pontefract with a further 80 roles expected to be created at the new Rotherham site. Turnover for the current year is expected to exceed £25m.
Darren Robson, chairman of Advanced Diesel Engineering, said: “We’ve been looking for additional manufacturing facilities for some time now so it’s great that we were able to act quickly and secure the purchase of the new Rotherham site. The new site will increase our manufacturing capability and allows us to focus on building generator enclosures in Pontefract, move the production of switchgear enclosures to Hellaby and recruit additional staff locally to support the expansion.
“It’s great that Barclays have been able to support these plans with funding and they have been our trusted partner to complete on the deal and deliver the next phase of our growth plans.”
Oliver Whitehurst, Barclays relationship director, put together the funding package for the deal and added: “It’s been very rewarding working with Darren and his team and I know they have big plans to take the business to the next level. The new funding from our Northern Powerhouse fund will enable the company to reach new markets, increase overseas trade and we’re delighted to be able to support Advanced Diesel Engineering in their growth.”
