Five reasons to consider machine storage
3 Minute Read
Your factory floor is valuable real estate which needs carefully managing to ensure it is always fully optimised. There will be times when machinery becomes redundant or temporarily surplus to requirements. It is then when you should consider external storage to free up the space.
There are many times when machine storage becomes an attractive alternative.
1. WHEN ITS TOO VALUABLE TO SCRAP BUT TOO EXPENSIVE TO KEEP
There will be times when machinery is no longer used but is still a valuable asset on the balance sheet. It is too good to be scrapped and may have some resale value. In these circumstances, VIG can remove the machine and store it in our warehouse where it can await refurbishment or until a decision has been made on its future.
2. RESALE SHOWROOM
Unwanted machinery often ends up on the second-hand market but turning your existing factory floor into a sale showroom is an inefficient use of space. By relocating it to a storage facility, you gain an instant showroom with space to display the machine and welcome interested buyers.
3. WHEN MACHINERY IS NOT READY FOR INSTALL
If you have purchased a new machine, but are not ready to install it, then keeping it in store may be the answer. It may be that favourable exchange rates or special offers mean an advance purchase is needed to secure the best deal. Again, this is the time to commit your purchase to storage.
4. FACTORY RELOCATION
If you are moving premises and need to prepare your new site prior to installation, then you may have to find a temporary home for your machinery. We can arrange the move of all your equipment to our storage facility where it can remain until ready for transportation to the new factory.
5. REFURBISHMENT AND SERVICING
It’s never easy to work on a machine on a busy factory floor, so it makes sense to move it to a storage facility where there is the space and equipment to service it. It’s a bit like taking your car to the garage, rather than repairing it on your drive. Our facilities have all the lifting equipment you need, plus the roof height to easily manage tall machinery.
VIG Industrial Relocation offers a comprehensive machine storage service providing either long or short-term housing for unused machinery.
We have two secure warehouses in the UK both with easy drive-in, drive-out access and CCTV coverage. Both depots are equipped with heavy lifting equipment including cranes and forklift trucks. Contact us for more information email@example.com
